ABOUT
A Note From David
Wilson, Head of the Development Group:
The Tusquellas is dedicated to and named after John Tusquellas, who
embodied great strength of character, integrity and timeless style.
John Tusquellas, whose family originated in Barcelona, Spain, died last
year at the age of 90 and is the great grandfather to my children.
The building is essentially handmade and took over seven years to complete.
The underlying concept of the project was to design and construct a
building faithful to the 1930's Spanish Colonial Revival style of architecture,
whose golden age spanned the 1920's and 1930's. We wanted the building
to look as though it were "always there", with its classic
styling and livable quality that will last for generations.
We hired William Hefner, a Los Angeles architect known for his high
quality architectural residences, may of which have been featured in
leading architectural publications. The Tusquellas is William Hefner's
first multiple family residence, as he typically only designs high-end
single family homes.
Each townhouse features individual poured-in-place concrete and steel-reinforced
foundations, terraced elevations, elegant plaster and iron grills, and
double stacked red-clay Spanish-style roof tiles. All vertical plumbing
throughout The Tusquellas is specific to each residence. This attention
to detail ensures maximum privacy and quality.
The interior is handcrafted with white plaster walls, hand-carved beams,
Calacata Gold marble countertops, Waterworks and Walter Zanger tiles,
vertical-grain Douglas Fir doors and windows, and open Douglas Fir T
and G painted white ceilings among other notable features.
